EVA Air to Sponsor Half Marathon in Taipei. Internationally certified run set for October 28, 2018

Taiwan’s leading independent airline, EVA Air, will host an internationally certified half marathon in Taipei on October 28, 2018. The EVA AIR Marathon is expected to attract as many as 20,000 runners from across the globe, giving them opportunities to take in Taipei’s scenery and skyline as they compete in the half marathon or shorter 10km and 3km races.

Participants can register for the EVA Air Marathon at 2018run.evaitf.com until August 29, 2018. The event offers three categories, the half marathon (maximum 8,000 runners), 10km (8,000 runners) and 3km (4,000 runners). Those entering the half marathon will be divided into 12 groups based on age and gender and those who complete the race with the best times can win as much as NT$ 30,000.

The run is being organized as a joint effort by the Chinese Taipei Culture, Leisure & Sport Association, Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Taipei City Government Department of Information and Tourism and the Chinese Taipei Road Running Association. The race is IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) and AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) certified. Courses for the 21.09km and 10km events take runners past some of the Taipei’s best-known and most beautiful attractions, including the National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, Taipei Fine Arts Museum and Dajia Riverside Park. The carefully laid-out courses not only give runners opportunities to compete with other world-class competitors but also showcase Taipei City’s beauty from a different perspective.

“EVA Air is exceptionally proud to support sports and has been sponsoring and encouraging athletes to excel in competitions around the world,” said EVA President Clay Sun. “We are hosting this marathon to challenge experienced runners and encourage others to participate in outdoor activities. On behalf of EVA, we welcome experienced marathoners and weekend joggers alike to sign up and enjoy a healthy run.”
More than 100 marathons are held in Taiwan every year but only a handful of them are certified by AIMS and IAAF. The EVA Air Marathon secured the certification to ensure that these respected international associations will officially recognize race results. This is the first internationally certified marathon to be organized by a Taiwan-based airline.
