Condé Nast Traveler Readers Vote EVA in Top 10 Airlines
Carrier wins Readers’ Choice Award recognition for first time
EVA Air has landed a 7th place ranking in Condé Nast Traveler’s prestigious 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards for the Top 10 Airlines in the World. The recognition marks the first time EVA has won a Top 10 spot from the publication’s readers and comes on the heels of equally high or higher traveler ratings in annual SKYTRAX and Travel+Leisure surveys. Readers Choice Award results are available on the Condé Nast Traveler website and highlighted in November US and UK print editions. Information about EVA, its routes and services is available at www.evaair.com.
The annual survey to identify the world’s best hotels, resorts, cities, countries, islands, spas, villas, tours, trains, car rentals, luggage, airlines, airports, tours, and cruises attracted more than 800,000 readers to vote between 1 April and 31 May, 2021. By rating their travel experiences from around the globe, readers shared insights into places and things they miss and what they can’t wait to get back to. Condé Nast Traveler describes its Readers’ Choice Awards as the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry.
“We miss flying our passengers to favorite destinations and those of their dreams every bit as much as they miss air travel with us,” said EVA President Clay Sun. “We look forward to the day when COVID-19 no longer disrupt global travel and we can again operate our full schedule with all the services and niceties we are known for. In the meantime, we are adopting new technologies that enhance passenger wellbeing and working towards automated, paperless services with minimal face-to-face contacts during ticketing, check-in, baggage drop, departure and baggage claim processes. We could not do any of it or win passenger appreciation and recognition without the dedicated, hard-working EVA team.”
Condé Nast Traveler is a luxury and lifestyle travel magazine. In addition to Condé Nast Traveler US and UK, there are nine different international editions, including separate publications in China, India, Italy, Spain and the Middle East.
EVA was recently ranked 7th among the SKYTRAX World’s Top 10 Airlines. Due to the global impact of COVID-19, the number of international flights and passengers fell dramatically, leading SKYTRAX to suspend its annual World Airline Awards in 2020. This year, SKYTRAX conducted its annual airline survey online and extended its questionnaire availability from September 2019 through July 2021 and invited travelers to evaluate their airline experiences over an 18-month period. Throughout the pandemic, EVA has worked hard to maintain basic services to most of its major destinations and adjusted ground and inflight operations to balance COVID-19 prevention measures with its trademark high-quality service.
“We are grateful for all of the support passengers from around the world continue to give us,” said EVA President Clay Sun. “Even as COVID-19 has changed the way people travel, we have not stopped working to identify and develop new and better ways to give our passengers the safest, most comfortable and enjoyable flying experiences possible. We have tested Affinidi, AOKpass and IATA Travel Pass and have not stopped evaluating other digital health verification platforms. With these and other leading-edge services, we are determined to offer the best, most passenger-friendly paperless, zero-contact airport environment available. Our COVID-19 prevention measures are already recognized among the world’s best and we have been awarded for these protocols by global rating organizations. Every bit of positive recognition we receive is encouragement for the hard work of everyone at EVA.”
In addition to EVA’s numerous SKYTRAX awards, readers of influential global travel brand Travel+Leisure honored EVA by voting it 3rd in the “World’s Best International Airlines.” AirlineRatings.com ranked EVA 9th of the “World’s Top-20 Airlines,” 6th in the “World’s Safest Airlines for 2021” and among the “World’s Top-20 COVID-19 Compliant Airlines.” EVA is bound to continue to improve in the post-pandemic era and to be dedicated to maintaining top standards of safety and service on every flight.

EVA AIR to Test IATA Travel Pass for COVID-19 Health Verification
App captures PCR test results for Paris-Taipei passengers
EVA Air is partnering with IATA (International Air Transport Association) to pilot test its digital health verification App on flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport, starting in September. The widely anticipated “IATA Travel Pass” will give EVA passengers on this European route a convenient, efficient way to digitally capture their health verification information and minimize person-to-person contact.
Countries around the globe are enacting strict travel requirements and dedicating immense resources to protecting their borders and safeguarding their populations against COVID-19 and its more dangerous variants. COVID-19 vaccinations and negative PCR test results are becoming required travel credentials. Digital health verification platforms are convenient tools that give border control officials direct access to passengers’ test results and help reduce human errors and unnecessary interactions. As we learn to live with COVID-19, tools such as “IATA Travel Pass” will become critical.
Starting in March 2021, EVA began testing these kinds of programs, working with Affinidi and, more recently, AOKpass. Now, it is piloting the “IATA Travel Pass” on another of its popular routes. EVA also plans to evaluate the Star Alliance Health Data Exchange Platform. EVA will continue to work closely with global authorities to co-develop post-pandemic travel standards. At the same time, it is complying with the various and evolving governmental vaccination and health verification policies for destinations it serves. EVA is embracing every opportunity to be part of the global force against COVID-19.
The IATA Travel Pass App has been created during the pandemic and more than 70 airlines have conducted pilot programs. EVA and IATA worked together for four months to construct support systems for the platform and chose Paris – Taipei for the test run. Ticket holders for flights on the route can download the App and create personal IDs. Their next step is to check details for testing at a designated hospital. After the PCR test is done, the medical facility will send it to each passenger’s mobile device. All the passenger has to do is present the App and the “OK to travel” health declaration form to EVA airport staff who can then quickly verify test results. Both Taiwan and the United States require passengers to be ready to also show paper copies of PCR test results to airport staff if additional verification is needed.
The “IATA Travel Pass” uses secured transmitting technology to ensure data privacy and enable passengers to comfortably manage health information now required for travel. As the pandemic has dragged on in its different forms, entry requirements for countries around the globe have repeatedly changed. The “IATA Travel Pass” is a vital tool, placing the most up-to-date travel information and entry regulations for countries worldwide at passengers’ fingertips.
EVA is piloting digital health verification platforms and automated systems simultaneously with ongoing efforts to enhance and optimize COVID-19 prevention measures and ground operations. EVA aims to provide the safest, most convenient flying experiences available as COVID-19 and its variants wind down and global travel resumes. In the meantime, it is upholding rigorous COVID-19 prevention standards, evaluating different digital health platforms and much more as it works to find the best ways to provide paperless, zero-contact travel experiences.
About EVA Air
EVA Air is a Star Alliance member and one of only 10 SKYTRAX-rated 5-Star airlines worldwide. Travelers responding to SKYTRAX’s global survey voted EVA number one for the “World’s Cleanest Aircraft Cabins” and “Best Economy Class Airline Catering.” TripAdvisor recognized it among the “Top 10 Airlines – World” and awarded it top spots in four more categories in its Travelers’ Choice Awards for Airlines while Travel + Leisure readers ranked it in the Top-10 International Airlines. EVA Offers New Online Automated Check-in Service
EVA Air is continually working to further improve ground-service quality and convenience, especially now with all the challenges created by COVID-19. Starting Wednesday, 11 August, 2021, it began offering “Automated Check-in,” a new online service for passengers taking international flights operated by EVA and UNI Air that is available as soon as they make reservations and pay for their tickets, as many days in advance of their flights as they wish, wherever they are. The system automatically checks them in for every EVA and UNI flight on their trip itinerary. This new service is available at www.evaair.com or on the EVA Mobile APP.
Over the past few years, EVA has steadily transformed time-consuming face-to-face airport counter services into paperless digital functions that passengers can access at their convenience. In addition, paperless functions provide added benefits by reducing carbon emissions and environmental impacts. As long as COVID-19 disruptions persist, these services enhance passenger and airline ground staff safety by minimizing the amount of time they spend in direct contact at the airport.
EVA and UNI Air will send auto check-in completion notification links 48 hours before scheduled departures, enabling international passengers to complete the recently introduced health declaration forms required for flights and get electronic boarding passes. Passengers will simply need to enter personal information to complete the process. Passengers can also change seats if another they prefer is available. Those traveling with infants, in groups or requiring special services will still need to complete check-in procedures at the airport counter.
EVA is working with Affinidi and AOKpass to test their verification solution programs while it evaluates other leading developers in anticipation of implementing universally accepted electronic health passports. Long after COVID runs its course, EVA will continue to seek innovative technologies it can use to give passengers increasingly personalized services, safer travel experiences and easier procedures from booking flights to airport departure, baggage claim and arrival.

EVA Among AirlineRatings’ World’s Best Airlines 2021
While 2020 and the first half of 2021 have had catastrophic effects on the global air travel industry, EVA Air has again proven itself to be one of the World’s Best Airlines, ranking 9th in AirlineRatings.com’s annual recognition of excellence. The honor follows EVA’s distinction in January as 6th in the influential ratings website’s World’s Safest Airlines for 2021 and placement among the World’s Top-20 COVID-19 Compliant Airlines where carriers are listed alphabetically. Additional information about the awards and rating criteria is available at www.AirlineRatings.com and the most up-to-date EVA route, service and COVID safety practices are detailed at www.evaair.com.
In its overview of the “World’s Top 20 Airlines for 2021,” AirlineRatings said, “EVA Air is a leader in Taiwanese aviation and has always been at the forefront of cabin innovation such as premium economy in 1992.” AirlineRatings.com regularly monitors and evaluates more than 435 airlines, subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny and rating them based on a system of one-to-seven stars. Data reviewed includes audits from aviation’s governing bodies, lead associations and the airlines’ own safety data. Additional criteria include fleet age, audited passenger reviews and product offerings. The team of global editors also considered airlines’ Covid-19 responses and, instead of releasing the annual ratings in November as they typically do, held off to see how carriers handled the pandemic over a period of time. Though profitability is also a significant factor in its annual rankings, AirlineRatings did not consider finances this year because almost all airlines have been losing money.
EVA is continuing to improve its services and operations, exploring new passenger conveniences such as digital passports and biometric boarding, upgrading its fleet and adapting inflight amenities to meet health safety needs as it simultaneously aims to consistently give passengers top-quality inflight experiences. It upholds rigorous COVID-19 prevention standards and, in addition to gaining AirlineRatings’ “Seven Star Certification for COVID-19 Epidemic Prevention” and ranking in the “World’s Top Twenty COVID-19 Compliant Airlines,” it won World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) certification with a SafeTravels stamp and officially became a member of the international safe travel reception service chain. EVA consistently leads the industry in flight safety, service and innovation and wins accolades, honors and recognition from prestigious aviation authorities year after year.

EVA Earns WTTC’s SafeTravels Stamp
Common standards help safeguard passengers, employees
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) certified EVA Air with a SafeTravels stamp. On behalf of the WTTC, Taipei City Government awarded SafeTravels stamps to 35 organizations, including hotels, travel agencies and exhibition centers. EVA Spokesman David Chen accepted the stamp from Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je on behalf of the airline. EVA is now an official member of the international safe travel reception service chain.
United Kingdom-based WTTC worked with health professionals and other industry associations to develop protocols and establish common standards designed to help safeguard the workforce and travelers as the globe’s new normal evolves. The SafeTravels Stamp enables travelers to recognize destinations and businesses worldwide that have adopted these standardized global health and hygiene protocols.
WTTC has awarded SafeTravels stamps to more than 250 destinations around the world, including to Taipei City in February 2021. It also authorized Taipei City to lead its region’s tourism sector in obtaining international safe travel stamps.
EVA upholds rigorous COVID-19 prevention standards and continually enhances and improves the measures it employs. It has begun to introduce biometrics identification to give passengers no-contact boarding services. It is also working with aviation industry partners to implement a reliable digital platform for verifying passengers’ PCR test results and vaccine injection records. EVA’s efforts have been recognized not only by AirlineRatings’ “Seven Star Certification for COVID-19 Epidemic Prevention” and inclusion among the “World’s Top Twenty COVID-19 Compliant Airlines” but also by being awarded WTTC’s Safe Travels stamp. It is the only airline in Taiwan to have earned these distinctions. EVA is continuing to work toward a safe post-pandemic business and leisure travel restart, aiming to deliver the safest, most reliable services possible to its passengers.

EVA Air Launches Brand-New Cargo Website
Site offers accessibility, flexibility on all types of devices
EVA Air unveiled a new official cargo website today at www.brcargo.com. The carrier used Responsive Web Design (RWD) technology to give its new website the enhanced accessibility and flexibility it needs to be responsive on a variety of platforms. EVA has built it to deliver consistent services to users on different devices at the office, at home or on the go, using a mobile phone or tablet. The new website is available at www.brcargo.com.
EVA Air and Evergreen Airline Services Corp. (EGAS) both recently earned certification from the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA’s) Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma). The impacts of COVID-19, including trends toward working from home, changes in consumer behavior and booming online shopping, created great airfreight business opportunities. The new website makes it easier for customers to check shipment status and flight schedules while online booking functions make EVA Cargo more competitive in the airfreight market.
Demand for airmail delivery has increased alongside substantial growth in e-commerce shipments brought about by the online shopping boom. The updated and improved website also has a special free login function for those inquiring about airmail status. By entering an EVA Cargo Air Waybill number, consignees and forwarders can access current shipment status.
EVA also refined the flight schedule inquiry page to enable users to check flight arrivals and departures for specific dates or weeks in a more intuitive way. Enabling flight numbers as search criteria enhances flight schedule search functions. At the same time, EVA is continually optimizing online booking features to make the process more efficient and facilitate use by cargo forwarders.
EVA’s new cargo website has an arching, curved design. The carrier replaced straight lines with wave-like curves that make blocks of information more fluid and vivid. It chose bright background colors to make information easier to read and main functions and messages stand out for easier access. It also added Google maps links, enabling users to locate EVA Air Cargo offices.
EVA worked for more than two years to develop its new website with user-friendly features and functions. By employing the latest webpage design technologies and incorporating users’ suggestions, it has added features that make it even more convenient to search schedules, book shipments and track status on all types of platforms. EVA is continuing its digital transformation as it makes every effort to always provide good customer service. The brand-new EVA Air cargo website is now live at https://www.brcargo.com.
